Rickey Sanders

Rickey Sanders began his law enforcement career in 2005 at Kershaw Correctional Institution, where he quickly gained experience supervising large inmate populations and uncovering contraband. His interest in gang activity led him to specialize in gang investigations, and by 2007 he was serving as the facility’s Security Threat Group (STG) Coordinator. During this time, he identified one of the highest numbers of gang members in South Carolina, establishing himself as a leader in gang intelligence.

In 2012, Sgt. Sanders transitioned to the Chester Police Department, where he worked as a Narcotics and Gang Investigator and was later promoted to Lieutenant. His expertise earned him a position as a Task Force Officer with the ATF Violent Crime Task Force, where he conducted complex investigations targeting violent gang networks. He currently serves as a Sergeant in the Narcotics and Gang Division in Fairfield County, continuing his work in enforcement and investigations.

A certified gang intelligence expert, Sgt. Sanders has been recognized as Gang Investigator of the Year twice and received FBI recognition for his role in a major federal case. He holds a degree in Criminal Justice, is a graduate of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Command College, and actively provides training and community education across the state. Passionate about prevention and awareness, he remains dedicated to reducing gang activity through enforcement, education, and community engagement.
